For over three decades, Scott Nelles (pronounced Nell-ess) has been producing cast bronze sculpture and decorative items. From toys to candlesticks, his work displays a childlike playfulness, elegant design, and superb control of his medium. Inspiration is derived from the natural world, as well as his childhood in Detroit. On visits to foundries and steel mills with his father, he was fascinated by the industrial process and the objects it produced. Using the timeless methods of sand casting and hand finishing, he creates objects of beauty, strength, and whimsy.
Nelles's work has been exhibited worldwide and purchased by individual collectors and sold in galleries. Though Nelles also does one of a kind objects, most of the work is made in multiples due to the lengthy and labor intensive process required to create each original piece.
