Joshua Wesley Wells (b.1948) is an emerging student artist currently majoring in Studio Arts at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Throughout his career as an educator, Joshua had always been making mixed-medium ceramic art, though not professionally. It was after a long career as a science teacher, administrator, and teacher-mentor in Michigan, New Mexico, China, and Kazakhstan, he began studying art at the Institute of American Indian Arts in 2016. He is mentored by Matthew Eaton, sculptor and printmaker, who organized his first solo exhibition at I.A.I.A. 2017 which launched his professional career as a contemporary folk-artist sculptor. His sculptural work appears in many private collections in Michigan, New York, Massachusetts, New Mexico, and Beijing, China.
