Islamic tribal carpets are the basis for paintings exploring the fine line between abstraction and representation.
Symbols who’s meaning has become obscured by centuries of appropriation within the weaving tradition hold a familiar if not obsequious place in our domestic settings.
So too do our pets become ‘object-occupants’ of our lives, our consciences, our daily routines- filling a need for aesthetic hunger.
This work invites the viewer to engage with the figures and shapes and the spaces between them, to interpret openly, and to enjoy beauty, as one would do at an oasis.
