Specializing in a broad range of
forged and constructed works, both functional and sculptural, and working in
ferrous and non-ferrous materials, his work crosses a design spectrum from
traditional to Art Nouveau to contemporary styles. With commissions designed in
close cooperation with architects and designers, Leavitt and his wife Lydia,
execute each work with the attention to the process and detail of a master
smith, finish and install each works with care, and always work in consideration
for longevity. Major commissions include numerous public sculptures in
compliance with The Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority and Department of
Parks and Recreation's 1% resolution such as “Stoney Batter Office Complex” in
Wilmington, DE; “Schylkill River Park” in Philadelphia, PA; and the “Oaklands
Corporate Centers” in Conshocken, PA. He has also created highly decorative
gates and grillwork, integrating sculpture and security for various private
collectors, as well as numerous freestanding sculpture and fountains. He has
shown his work at The Hudson River Museum; The University of Texas at Austin;
The Philadelphia Flower Show; and The Philadelphia Museum of Art.
